I distinctly remember celebrating Arbor Day at school and bringing home a little 12-inch pine tree. My dad dutifully planted it in the yard, and it grew for a few years. There was also a bigger tree near it that must have come from one of my older brothers and sisters. Now, you, too, can celebrate Arbor Day with 10+ trees from the National Arbor Day Foundation.

All you have to do is enter your zip code and take a survey. At the end of the survey is the opportunity to donate to the foundation. One donation of $20 will get you 10 trees based upon your location. I was offered the following:

• 1 Flowering Crabapple
• 2 Eastern Redbuds
• 1 Washington Hawthorne
• 1White flowering Dogwood
• 5 Norway Spruces
• 2 Lilacs

Naturally, if you live in a different part of the state, you might get a different selection of trees to plant.

The second option is to donate the same amount and have 20 trees planted in an American forest devastated by fire, insects, disease, or deforestation.
