Now that Memorial Day is over, we can concentrate on summer! One of the great things about summer is all the great reading programs for kids AND adults. Whether it’s your favorite Wisconsin library or the Pizza Hut Book It! Reading Program, there are great opportunities for young and old alike to earn free stuff just for reading!

Local Libraries:
- Brown County Library – Kickoff Date June 6. Summer reading programs for Early Literacy, Children’s, Teens & Tweens, and Adults. Track your reading and earn entries for a wealth of prizes, Summer Reading – Brown County Library

- Oshkosh Public Library – Kickoff Date June 10 This year’s theme is Curtains Up! Pick up your Playbill at the library. It contains all your instructions and your BINGO card of activities! Mark off the activities on your BINGO card as you complete them.When you complete all five activities in a straight line (up, down, or diagonal), you have a BINGO! - Door County Library – Kickoff Date June 10. Everyone can be a Reader with us this summer; all ages are included. All forms of reading are encouraged; read or be read-to, it all counts! Programs for Children, Teens, and Adults. • Collect your Reading Log by visiting the library or clicking the link below. Set a reading goal and start reading. Track your progress on your Reading Log. - Madison Public Library – Kickoff Date June 1. Choose a creative reading goal. Break your goal into 10 smaller steps and write them along the path in the map. When you get halfway to meeting your goal, celebrate! There are ideas for creative celebrations included within the map. Bring your completed map back to the library and talk to library staff about your reading journey. When you do, you’ll be able to collect this year’s commemorative WE READ badge. Pizza Hut Book It! (Summer or Classroom Program)
- During the summer months of June, July, and August, any child that meets their parent-set reading goals can earn a free Pizza Hut single topping Personal Pan Pizza* from participating locations. - This summer, kids in grades 1-6 earn a FREE book through the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program. Read any eight books and record them in your Summer Reading Journal (see links below). Panda Express (Classroom Program)
- Technically, this is a school year program but thought it was worth mentioning for all the teachers our there, The program is recommended for elementary school students who are reading, typically grades Pre-K/TK – 5th grade (ages 5-11). Students will have an individual goal of reading 5 books. You can also encourage them to support each other to achieve a collective goal as a classroom. Half Price Books
- Starting June 1, registered participants have access to printable camp components all summer, including reading lists, activity ideas, and coloring sheets. Mensa For Kids
- To encourage the joy of reading, the Foundation has developed the Mensa for Kids Excellence in Reading Program. Earn a commemorative certificate in recognition of your outstanding achievement and get an Excellence in Reading T-shirt, too! For ages 0 – 18. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
- Each month, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails a high-quality, age-appropriate book to all registered children, addressed to them, at no cost to the child’s family. Countless parents have shared how excited their child is when their new book arrives each month. DoD (Department of Defense) – For Military Families
- The DoD offers a summer reading program for military families & children stationed worldwide. This year the theme is Plant a Seed, Read. Library programs will include activities, graphics, crafts, reading lists, incentives, and much more for children, teens, and adults.
