Did you know that Harry Houdini died 100 years ago on Halloween? The state of Wisconsin and the city of Appleton are honoring the magician & illusionist tomorrow morning in downtown Appleton. (In case you didn’t learn this in school, Houdini was born in Appleton)

From the website: “Appleton, Wisconsin was the beloved hometown of the iconic Harry Houdini. A genius of illusion and escape, he often graced the local Opera House stage and captivated audiences by slipping out of police cuffs with ease. Today, his remarkable influence continues to serve as a vital pillar of our local identity.
In this 100th anniversary of Houdini’s death, the city of Appleton has been holding events all year long celebrating the life of this famous Wisconsinite.
Saturday, October 31st, Downtown Appleton is the place to be for the dedication of the official Wisconsin State Historical Marker in Houdini Plaza. The event will be from 10:30 – 11:00am.
After the ceremony, visitors are invited to head to Fox Commons at 10 East College Avenue from 11:00a-2:00p for a FREE family event featuring magic, music, and variety acts. FYI, seating is limited, so plan accordingly.
